The age of presenting a Digital Strategy on power points and word documents is nearing extinction. In an age of the tablet and the numerous online and mobile platforms that are available to us, we have decided to drop traditional consulting delivery methods and go ‘Digital’ with Digital strategies. We’ve transitioned to interactive digital strategies thus enabling users to not simply read but also explore and interact with various facets of the digital experience ranging from customer lifecycle experience to digital channels to supporting technologies and tools.
The constant challenge to find multidisciplinary and cross-functional skills within our team drove us towards this non- traditional approach to talent identification and recruitment. We are currently exploring approaches to integrate game mechanics with traditional candidate screening and selection methods to attract and challenge future employees through a gamified online selection process.
Interactive Business Case
The traditional and the relatively in-effective approach to communicate Business Cases through lengthy documents and complex spreadsheets we felt was a domain ready for some disruption. We’ve thus borrowed ideas from information modelling, visual story boarding and app development to not only model business cases onto a page but also evolve them into digital outputs that are interactive and provide that refreshingly new dimension to facilitate greater understanding and buy-in for business cases within organisations.
Interactive Enterprise Architecture
Embedding the outputs of Enterprise Architecture (EA) and convincing the rest of the organisation of it’s real value is a common challenge that most CIOs are faced with. The nature of the domain also lends itself to a lot of complexity that is not easily understood or adopted by a non-technical audience. One of our CIO clients provided us with the challenge of demonstrating the value of Enterprise Architecture to his peers within the business and also provide a simplified framework that could help with better understand and adoption of the EA principles, guidelines and frameworks across the organisation. The result has been an online story boarding tool that provides drill down ability for business and non-technical users to explore the architectural journey from a business capability rather than technology perspective.
An academic client of ours was trying to validate their research assumptions and findings with a range of large corporates spread across the globe. They were aiming to garner support for their research proposal to model complexity in large transformative projects through this exercise. The domain of work was very complex and the only way to seek validation and feedback was by conducting roadshows and targeting workshops across cities around the world. Given the complexity of the subject, use of online surveying tools was a risk as there was limited understanding of the domain and scope for misinterpretation. The application of innovative design and visualisation techniques to this problem resulted in the development of a unique Visual Surveying tool that illustrated the entire research landscape into the form of an interactive Infographic with a surveying tool embedded within it.
Given our strong domain expertise in Strategic Consulting we have continued to push the boundaries and explore innovative and more effective ways to support senior executives across the strategy definition and implementation lifecycle. The journey has led us to a potentially disruptive innovation where we are now combining our domain expertise in strategy development with visualisation, app development, social media integration and game mechanics to develop an iPad application. The app is aimed at supporting Executives, Strategy Professionals and Consultants to develop rapid mental models of their strategies in less than 20 minutes. The idea has already begun gaining momentum and has also bagged some seed funding through the ACT Government’s Innovation Connect grant. Watch this space!
